Booth Buzz March ’26

Welcome to the first edition of Booth Buzz by Black Rock, a monthly newsletter created to share insights, practical strategies, and upcoming opportunities for our vendor community.

Each season brings new people, new climates and new lessons about what draws a crowd. Things are constantly changing; what inspires customers to buy, what helps a booth stand out, how to best navigate a changing economy. This newsletter is designed to pass along those insights so vendors can refine their approach, strengthen their presentation, and continue building successful businesses at events throughout the region.

The goal is simple: help every vendor sharpen their skills and grow into a true Booth Boss.

Market Buzz

Vendor Intelligence from Recent Events

Every gathering teaches us something about the people who attend our events. Paying attention to these patterns can help vendors prepare inventory and refine their booth strategy.

Customer Buying Patterns

• Items in the $15–$40 range often move quickly, especially when they feel giftable or locally made. In a slow economy, things that give people an indulgent feel of luxury on a budget easily appeal.

• Guests spend more time at booths where they can interact with the vendor, ask questions, or watch something being demonstrated. If nothing else, try adding a conversation piece to your display. Something that draws even the introverts out of their shell.

• Clear signage and pricing encourage browsing and reduce hesitation. Even the greatest conversation pieces can’t make everyone want to interact. An easily navigable display is inviting and feels safe.

What Customers Were Asking For

• Handmade goods with a personal or local story

• Unique gifts that feel meaningful rather than mass produced

• Products connected to wellness, craft traditions, or personal expression

People are tired of mass produced everything and often simply wish to support small businesses.  Don’t hesitate to share your story and make it personal. Tell them where you found the pattern, how you messed up the first one you made, that this one is your favorite scent because it reminds you of your favorite childhood lip smacker.

Trend to Watch

Customers respond strongly to booths that feel curated and intentional. Brand image is so important when appealing to consumer psychology. A thoughtful display and a confident explanation of what makes your work special can make a strong impression.

Booth Boss Tip of the Month

Create a Clear Focal Point

A strong booth gives visitors a reason to stop. One visual feature should draw attention from across the room or down the walkway. This might be a striking display piece, an elevated sign, or a centerpiece that tells the story of your work.Once someone pauses to take a closer look, conversation and sales become much easier. One trait that consistently stands out among successful vendors is thoughtful display. Products arranged at different heights, clear signage, and open space for customers to browse make a booth feel inviting rather than crowded. Vendors who treat their booth as a small storefront tend to see visitors linger longer and explore more items.

Booth Boss Spotlight

Each month we will highlight a vendor who brings a strong presentation, personal touch or unique creativity to their booth.

This month’s spotlight is:

Serrenta Soap Company.

Seyma makes all natural soaps body care, runs a soap makers podcast and makes a big impression at every show. Check her out at HERE.

Booth Boss Challenge

March Challenge: The Impulse Item

Add one item priced around $20 or less that encourages quick decisions. Small purchases help start conversations and often lead customers to explore higher-priced pieces as well. Observe how people respond and take note of what sells quickly.

Vendor Question of the Month

Final Buzz

We all know a great booth does more than display products. It creates an experience, invites conversation, and leaves visitors remembering your work long after the event ends. We look forward to seeing how vendors continue to grow, experiment, and bring their creativity to this season’s events.

Until next time, keep building that Booth Boss energy.
